As part of our planned 2023 educational and recreational tours, we decided to pay a visit to some important sites in Accra, Ghana.

Our learners embarked on a fun packed, educational trip to the Ghana National Museum and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, on Thursday, 9th November, 2023.

Our learners were taken through the historic and heroic life of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who together with other heroes (The Big 6), fought to gain independence for the then, Gold Coast, in 1957.

It was an amazing experience to see and hear of what he had to go through to liberate Ghana from the British rule. It was also fascinating to see  the  various items used by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Items such as clothes, walking sticks, car, trunk  for school, student mattress and few others were seen at the memorial park.

” I am not African because I was born in Africa but Africa was born in me”- Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. (I guess this is one of our favourite quotes)

The Ghana National Museum is one of the oldest Museums in Ghana. It is located in Accra and has a simple yet beautiful scenery with well displayed historic artefacts used by our fore fathers and mothers in the 1800 and 1900s.

Our learners had an amazing time learning about various archaeological items used. Objects such as a chief’s regalia, traditional kitchen tools,  various currencies used in the past, Ghana’s oldest sport jerseys, traditional farm tools, Ghana’s oldest presidential seat, head statues of the big 6, gold weights, beads, stones and many others were seen displayed in the Museum.
